What is the new arrangement? Sensometrics 2020 will be held as a Virtual Conference on October 6-9, 2020 (Week 41).

Do I need to travel to Stavanger to attend? No. The meeting will be held everywhere. As long as you have Internet access you can attend the Virtual Conference.

Why a Virtual Conference?The Sensometric Society Committee and Sensometrics 2020 conference organizers have been monitoring the ongoing efforts to contain the COVID-19 coronavirus and receiving updates from Norwegian and international health authorities. There are many unknowns. Border closures and organizational travel restrictions affect many conference registrants. We solicited feedback from registered participants to get a wider perspective. A majority of registrants requested that the conference be postponed or moved to a virtual conference. On June 24, 2020 the decision to postpone the conference was finalized. We sincerely regret the inconvenience that this meeting change will cause some registrants.

Do I need to change my travel and hotel bookings related to Sensometrics? Yes. You are responsible for cancelling/changing your hotel reservations and other travel arrangements, as needed.

Will the scientific program be the same now that Sensometrics 2020 will be a Virtual Conference?There will need to be some changes. We are planning for a 4-day conference (October 6-9) and on each day to have 4 hours of presentations starting at 16:00 CEST / 14:00 UTC / 23:00 JST / 10:00 EDT / 07:00 PDT. The scientific committee will update the program following consultation with the presenters.

I had signed up for a tutorial on Tutorial Day. Will the tutorials be run? No. All tutorials will be cancelled. You will be refunded the tutorial price if you were enrolled in a tutorial.

Will the conference workshops be part of the program? The scientific committee will update the program in consultation with the workshop organizers/presenters.

Will the presentation that I worked on still be part of the scientific program? Yes. If you have a presentation (oral, flash poster, poster) then your place in the scientific program is held, as long as you remain registered. The scientific committee will adjust the program to shorten presentation times. Changes to the scientific program will be communicated promptly.

Do I need an app to join the Virtual Conference? Yes, but we have not finalized the technology decisions yet. Information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

What are the registration fees for the Virtual Conference? The registration costs will be 550 NOK for students and post docs, 925 NOK for academic, and 1050 NOK for non-academic participants. A registration discount of 200 NOK is offered to all members of the Sensometric Society.

I already registered for Sensometrics. Do I need to re-register for the Virtual Conference?No. The conference is changed from an in-person meeting to an online meeting on the same dates, so there is no need to re-register. By default, all registrations are held for Sensometrics 2020 in the Virtual Meeting format.

The new registration fees are lower than the fees that I paid. Can I get a partial refund?Yes. All registrants will be refunded the difference between the in-person registration fees that were paid and the new virtual conference registration fees. These partial refunds will be issued in mid-September.

Can I become a member of the Sensometric Society now and still receive the member discount on my registration fees? Yes. Visit sensometric.org to become a member. If you become a member and notify us (email@sensometrics2020.com) then we will apply the member discount to reduce your registration fees.

I registered for the in-person meeting and can’t attend the Virtual Conference. Can I cancel my registration and get a full refund? Yes. The cancellation policy has been updated to give you more time to make this decision. Requests for cancelling your registration should be made by email (email@sensometrics2020.com). Requests received by September 10 will be eligible for a full refund (we will waive the administration fee for cancellation). The Cancellation Policy has been revised for the virtual conference.
